Busy Weekend…..Camping with the Group….and Mileys 6th Birthday Party….

Last weekend, we camped with our group, Cenois Prairielanders.   We started out on Thur. nite.   Rich got home about 7, and we hopped in the MH and left.   Of course we also took Kitty.   This is his second camping trip and he did so good.  He was scared at first but he actually walked around some.   He is getting more curious all the time.

Kitty was even starting to Play…

We knew we wouldn’t make the campground before dark, so we stopped at a McDonalds truck parking lot.   That is the beauty of a Motorhome.   But it is a good think to read signs too.  The small sign said as we drove in,   No parking overnite.  Prohibited by the town ordinance.   Oh well, we took the chance and parked anyway.   I was waiting for the police to come knocking at 2 in the morning, but all was well.   In the morning we got up and had breakfast at a restaurant about half a block away.   On we went to Peoria, and stopped at an RV place and filled with propane.   We had to have propane to run the furnace.  The weather is getting pretty chilly.   On we went to the campground.   This was the first time to Kentuckiana .   What a fabulous campground.   It is so geared to the kids and a great family atmosphere.  We met up with all our friends from the Cenois Prairielanders group and met some new ones from the Great River Ramblers.  There was a total of 9 coaches.   It was a nice group.   On Friday nite, the campground served a free Chili supper.  You had your choice of hot or mild chilli, crackers and a piece of pie ala mode.    OMG, They had pecan pie.   It was So so good.   Saturday the ladys took off to a Tea Room in Mackinaw. It is called “The Garden Gate”.   It is such a cool place.  It is a renovated old Railroad Station.  The rooms are all packed full of so many gift ideas, all decorated for Halloween and Christmas.   The coolest thing about it is the meal.  They are known for serving their meals on a 3 tiered serving rack.   If you order a soup, entrée, and dessert it comes served on this cool beautiful rack that is placed in front of you.

We shopped and then stopped across the street at the “Porcelain Berry”, which is full of so many wonderful things, from jewelry, clothing, purses, to home gadgets.  We all returned and had a great time and all spent money…..lol…How can you not….

The men did their own thing.  They went to a Modular home manufacturing factory…..HomeWay Homes….They have tours every Saturday at 1.  They seen a house built from scratch to finish.   They can built about 2 homes a week and sometimes more.   After that they went on down the road to the sales site.   They had 2 complete homes on display for everyone to go through.   Sounds so interesting.   I would really like to do that to.  I love touring homes, especially seeing how they are built.  After we all got back to the campground, we rested a bit and then drove to Minier for Supper.   It was just a small town bar and grill.   But guess what the specials were?   All you can eat barbeque ribs and Prime rib.   Well I had the prime rib and Rich the Ribs.   OMG.   So so full.   Back to the campground.   The one really cool thing about this campground is, every Saturday nite they have a country singing group.   We went back and sat through the first half and then time for bed.  All that food really did us in.

The next morning we all had breakfast together.   (more food)….lol….It was really a chilly weekend so we eat our breakfast on Sat. and Sun. at the Campgound hall.

Here are a few more pics of the campground. They have 2 really pretty ponds for fishing and just pleasure.   Also several gazebos scattered around and some beautiful flowers.

After that we hightailed it home.  We left at 10:00 and had to be in Spring Valley Boat Club around 1……It was Mileys 6th birthday party.   We made it and even made the taco salad that I always bring.  That seems to be the kids favorite thing for me to bring.  Tina always throws great birthday partys for the kids.   This year Miley picked the theme Frozen for her party.

It was such a busy weekend but so much fun………Another week closer……

The Story of the Forgotten LaSalle Mission Cemetary……next to my Dentist……

Today is a gloomy day.   It started with the pitter patter of rain drops on the skylights in the kitchen.  Fall is coming and the leaves are falling.   The temperature is dropping and now it is jacket weather some days.   Unfortunately, the furnace came on last weekend.   Just no break in paying out to good ole Ameron.   But on the bright side, we are heading for a camping weekend tonight, or maybe in the morning.   Rich comes home from work tonight and we will see how he feels.

When we first bought the Motor Home, we also joined the National Club, FMCA.   (Family Motor Coach Association).   They have many clubs throughout the U.S.   The local club not to far from us invited us to join.   They have monthly get togethers and camp for the weekend.   We joined and found it to be so much fun.   They are the greatest group of people.   Fun loving and young at heart.  This weekend is the last campout of the year.   Lots of things planned and of course…..Always Great Food…..I will surely take lots of pics and share next week after were back home.

Only 6 more days to D-Day…..Teeth Extraction…..Next Wed.    Please all think good thoughts for me……LOL…I admit….I AM CHICKEN…..But they did give me prescription for some good meds…..So hope all is well.   And that brings me to the subject of this blog……LASALLE MISSION CEMETARY….

cemeterydoc

Carefully excavating the grave sites.

When I first went to the dentist I knew of the history next door.  This whole block was originally just trees weeds grass, just basically deserted.  It had been used a pasture for the last 100 years.   A Veterinary bought the corner lot to construct a new state of the art animal clinic.   Much to his surprise, he found out after he bought it, their was a cemetery on his land.   This Cemetery is the Lasalle Mission Cemetery located at the corner of 24th and Chartres St. in LaSalle Illinois.  Originally dedicated in 1840 by the Catholic La Salle Mission church, was in use until roughly 1857.  Many of these people had died of cholera.   According to state law he had to strip all the top soil and investigate each grave shaft.   If he would build on the property, all remains would have to be relocated to another site.   This was done over the course of a year, with the help of one and then two archeologists.   Much help was given by the community.   Many volunteers came and helped.

Eventually all remains were bagged and later buried.   The roughly 1,130 remains from over 900 grave shafts were re-interred in St. Vincent Cemetery, La Salle.
“Everything we got, artifacts and all, were in individual bags and they’re in the ground,” said funeral director John Hurst, who has been involved with the relocation process.
The remains were divided among ten vaults laid side-by-side near the southern edge of the cemetery property along North 2979th Road. The lots were provided by St. Vincent Cemetery Association.

Roughly ten months after human remains were found at the site of the former La Salle Mission cemetery, those early residents were blessed in their new grave site at St. Vincent’s Cemetery.  Bishop Jenky from the Peoria Diocese  and 2 local priests, came and performed the Rite of Committal with Final Commendation before a group of nearly 40 people for the re-interment .

A new Monument made from a granite slab was placed later at the burial site.  I weighs approximately 2,500 lbs.    The monument in the La Salle cemetery along St. Vincent’s Avenue is inscribed:
“The memorial marks the site where the remains of Irish and German immigrants and pioneers were relocated from the La Salle Mission Cemetery. The La Salle Mission Cemetery, located approximately one mile to the south and west of this memorial, was in use between 1840 and 1857. Many of those buried here died of cholera. The re-interment took place on April 28, 2012.”

This was such an interesting story.  I included several sites that you could do some research.   The Ancare Veterinary Clinic did build their new office.   Next to them is an empty lot and then next to the lot is where my dentist built his new office.   One of my questions to my dentists was,  Are you sure you got all the remains?   I don’t want one of the spirits coming and guiding your hands while I’m getting these teeth pulled.   lol.   Well his answer was, their wasn’t any grave sites on his property.   But he did find old fence posts.   He laughed of course, and my other response was, those poor pets that are boarded on the Vets office.   The People go home at night and leave the pets all alone…..spooky…..My dentists said that the spirits just come up and play with them at night and keep them company….lol….He has a great sense of humor….Well, long story short……Turns out that their wasn’t any openings soon for the extraction, so I have to go to Princeton to his other office next Wed.    so …………..GUESS I’M SAFE FROM THE SPIRITS……..

Its Official……Dec. 1……Texas Sunshine….

Yesterday was a beautiful day. Nice and warm with rays of sunshine. But fall is in the air.    That darn grass just keeps growing.   Tomorrow we have to mow and bag it.  It just keeps growing with all the rain and nice weather we’ve had.

But the best news is………….I talked to the RV and Mobil Home Park that we will be staying in this winter.   Its OFFICIAL….We will be Workampers this winter……Yahoo……….  I will be working in the office….yahooooo….and Rich will be Maintenance.     So excited.   So after Thanksgiving dinner we will be leaving and heading south for the winter, down to Harlingen Texas.    It is in the Texas Rio Grande Valley.   Not far from Mexico.  Rich officially gave his notice at work yesterday also.  So by the end of the month, he will be retired, and waiting for his first SSI check….Never Dreamed that this day would come.    I’m still working my 2 days a week, but it is so nice now to get up in the morning and not rush.   It won’t be long and it will be like this everyday.   Rich can’t wait.  They are working him so hard.   The company that he works for hauling the US mail is so short on drivers.  Wouldn’t you think in this day and age when everyone is needing a good job, they would be able to find good employees?    It seems not.  Some of the ones they do hire are really questionable……. lol……But soon he will be free also….lol…..We will be making another trip to Social Security to sign him up and then his Medicare starts Dec 1.    Unfortunately, I have to buy some gap insurance when I quit work as I won’t be 65 until next Aug.  But that’s a small price to pay for ……FREEDOM…..

We still have so much to do.    I keep selling stuff on the FB garage sale sights and have been doing quite well.   Cleaning out all the stuff in the house is just unimaginably difficult.   Not that its hard to part with it, but what to do with all of it.   But piece at a time.   I did manage to get all my sewing stuff consolidated and packed into plastic containers that fit in the cabinets in the bedroom.   It was so much easier than I thought it would be.  Now I am getting to all the drawers where I stuffed all the things from the kids growing up.   They contain the report cards, school papers, diplomas, baby books, jewelry from when they were born.    Time now to get each kid a tote and start separating all these things.   I have also found clothes that I saved from when they had baby pics taken.  Blankets and pics that I embroidered Their name and birth date.  Lots of things I haven’t seen in years…..What pack rats we are….lol….I feel like a Hoarder…

Also yesterday I took my sewing machine out to the MH and sewed my curtains.   I just had to have curtains to make it homey.   Rich really didn’t care or understand, but when he wasn’t around, I ordered valences from Penneys and put them up….hahaha…..I usually get what I want.   I just do it my way…..lol……I had to have them to make it look like home.   I took the ones from my dinning room and put them in the Bedroom.  So now I’m happy.   Now the ones I ordered from Penneys I liked but they didn’t have a header at the top of the valence.   And I might add , they were to long.   So Easy Fix.   I folded them over and sewed a nice substantial header at the top….and they are also shorter now…They look more like valences than curtains.    Now I’m really happy….lol…They look much more  professional….

20140927_073751          We love the colors blue and red….Love those bright colors….

20140927_07385920140927_073933

These are the bedroom curtains.    Could be brighter but they were recycled from my dining room.

Thur. was another dentist day.   I tried on the new teeth.   They were really brite.    Like a flashlight?.  Well not that bad.    ha-ha….The dentist agreed with me , so they are going to tone them down another shade.  So I have another try-on again before the grand finale.    They gave me a prescription for Xanax to take.   Only 4 pills.   Take 1 an hour before the procedure and bring the bottle incase I need more…..hahaha…..Ill be in Happy Land…..I’m liking that…..Never been their before….Now I can see what its like to be a Druggie ….haha….Tammy is going to take me, cause obviously I can’t drive myself.  lol.   This I’m sure is going to be quite an experience for me.   Rich said I have to learn a whole new way of eating.    Wonder if this will help me shed a few pounds?    Some how I think NOT.   Nothing helps this body.   Too Late.   ……….Until Later………

Birthday Party Fun…..

Well another week has gone by. Another week closer to winter and another week closer to leaving and starting the new life of fulltime RVing.  Tomorrow I have to go back to work and put in my 2 days of imprisonment for the week. Oh well, it is giving us insurance for now. Thursday is another appointment to the dentist.  I think it is a tryon of the real thing….lol.  The DENTURES…. and then in Oct., out with the old….and in with the new….grrrrrrrr. Kind of scary…Just give me drugs..
This weekend I had several things happening.  For one a Wonderful Person passed away.  I never met Tina, but I went to school with her father in law, Russ.  Her husband, Willie and his sister Jamie, went to school with my kids.  Plus I work with Jamie now.  Tina passed away from cancer at 37 leaving her husband and 2 little kids.  She was originally from Russia. Her wake was Saturday.  Her life is such a wonderful heartwarming story of inspiration and love for family.  I must share it but with permission from Willy.  They are having a Celebration of her life later so I hope to share her story later date.
Later Saturday night, my son gave a party for his girlfriend Brandy. She turned 40.  He likes to do everything big.  So they hired a band and backed the drop deck trailer into the back yard. 20140920_223839

20140920_232143                                                       How Brandy loves to Karaoke

Everyone had quite a good time.   Even the little kids.   Their was plenty of food.   Brandy made Italian Beef.   Rich found a huge Slicing Beef Roast in the freezer.   Already precooked and seasoned.   We don’t know where it came from, Imagine that. ….. lol…. So he cooked and cut it into slices and put it in a roaster, filled with Aus Jois…..I made Taco Salad.   Everyone just loves it, and a cheeseball and another dip.   Another first……Brandy and Scott asked me to go make a beer run at 11pm.   Imagine that….His Mother getting his beer?….   The sober one had to go for beer…Another first for me….20140920_233859 20140920_233834

The little kids had fun watching but were really tired by the end of the night….

Cheers to the 40 year old…..Happy Birthday Brandy….

I tried to get a good picture of Brandy and Scott, but he wouldn’t cooperate.   He kept making silly faces….He doesn’t like to smile cause he has dimples….lol…I used to point them out to everyone, when he was a kid.   I guess I must have embarrassed him to no end as a child… .. lol……Ive marked him for life….The things parents do.   But……..since he wouldn’t cooperate and smile, Im just going to post all the pics I took …………..

Sorry Scott….lol….

Well time to do some more work as to cleaning out….Have done some good deals selling on fb these past weeks.   Cleaning out a lot of stuff.   Now today, I am going to work on my sewing stuff.  Rich found some plastic containers that will fit in the upper cabinets in the bedroom.   So now I need to go through my sewing supplies and consolidate.    So far I have bought 4 containers, but room for more………………….lol………………..Always room for MORE…… Until next time…..

It Is Sure Cold Out………..Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr……..

First thing I want to mention is, I have added pictures to the Family portion of this blog.  If you look at the header section, you will see FAMILY.  I have added some of my favorites.  So hard to chose, but these are some good ones.   I also added a page called Crafts.  Some of my favorite things that I have made.  Crafts is one thing that we will continue when we finally go full time RVing.   Hoping to do some Flea Marketing.   I have also changed my ideas on some things.   I have some great ideas on things to make with the sewing machine that RVers would like.   Just one thing is, what do you do with your jewelry to try to keep it nice with out taking up space.   Its all about space ya know.  How about a jewelry type pouch that is on a coat hanger to hang in the closet.   Your necklaces will hang and not get tangled and will be safe and covered and NOT take up space.  I have patterns for a number of items.

Woke up this morning to chill breeze coming in the windows. It felt so good to snuggle under the covers and know I don’t have to go to work. My two days are done for the week. lol…So so nice. But it is sure a teaser. The first day back isn’t to bad, but Wed. which is my second and last day of the week, is SO so hard. I swear, I think the day was 12 hours long. It sure seemed that way. So this morning I got up finally, after the sun came up. lol. Another dentist appointment today. Called the wax bite tryon. So made it through that and went and visited Tammy a bit before going home.

I want to tell you about one of my passions. The Hegler Carus Mansion.  Hegler Carus Mansion

I am a Volunteer at the Mansion (docent).   I have been giving tours on the weekends since 2007.  What an awesome historical home we have here in LaSalle Illinois.  I was never interested in history until the year my sister came for a visit from Albuquerque New Mexico.  She had been away for so many years, all she wanted to see was old big Illinois homes.  The mansion had been in the paper because of the renovations that had been going on and the tours were being increased.  So I told Anna, I know of a place we can go see.  It was 3:00 on a Sunday afternoon.  The last tour of the day.  Wow, we made it.  We were both so so amazed at the home.  Several months later I read an article in the paper.  They were giving classes for several weeks to learn about the history.   Of course I signed up.  That was all it took.  I wanted to learn all I could.  The Tour Director is Tricia Kelly.  She is so AWESOME.  Her love and enthusiasm of the home is so apparent.  One cannot help but love her and the devotion she feels for the house.  She is just a wealth of knowledge, and loves to share it.   She is a perfect match for the job.

They also have a new Executive Director, Kelly Klobucher.   She has been with the Mansion for the past 3 or more years now and has made tremendous strides in modernizing the marketing program.   She has so many wonderful ideas.  So many great activities are planned every week of every month.   She also has started a Hegeler Carus Mansion facebook site for those of us that like to follow.

Well I took the classes and I didn’t have any idea that I would EVER EVER be a tour guide.   Public speaking is my worst enemy.  My mouth turns to mish mash.  My brain and mouth total becomes disconnected.   The brain becomes totally empty ….Brains Waves?  a “BIG FAT 0″……lol….Well I kept following the other tours and finally one day, Trica said ” Your on your own”……….What……….I had prepared note cards for this day.    Thank Goodness.   I even forgot Edward Hegelers name.    hahaha….Imagine that.   Well from their on, It got better and better.  I also was in the Christmas Play,  for 2 years.   I was a maid.   lol.   Funny Picture.  Fat maid I might add.   lol…But so much fun

Carus christmas 07 029

I have never found anything so rewarding as the time I spend at the Mansion.  The feeling the house transmits when you are in it, is so peaceful and serene.  If only the walls could talk.  It is such a joy to share the knowledge that I have learned of the family that lived their and raised their children.  I am also going to start another page on the top in the header area.   Hegeler Carus Mansion.   I will include a short history of the Hegeler Carus family and pictures.   It is a place that everyone should take the time to visit if they are in the area.   The grounds of the Mansion is so beautiful.  In the summer they have a Concert Summer Series of Artists from the surrounding area.  Anywhere from country to jazz to 60’s England Invasion music.   They play every Friday nite on the west lawn.   Everyone brings their lawn chairs and is welcome to bring a lunch.  I even see people bring Cheese trays and crackers and a bottle of wine.   So relaxing….

Summer Concert Series..... Music by Bag Shot Row.... New Gazebo on the West Lawn

Summer Concert Series….. Music by Bag Shot Row…. New Gazebo on the West Lawn

This Mansion was built in 1872.  It is 7 stories high, 57 rooms and 16,000 square feet.   Edward and Camilla Hegeler raised 10 children and their first born was Mary.   Mary married Paul Carus and raised 5 children in the home.  Edward started M &H  Zinc in 1858, and Open Court Publishing in  1887.  Carus Chemical was started in the 1920’s next door.  M & H closed in the 1970’s.  Open Court Publishing is still thriving.  Carus Chemical is now in operation across the USA and Europe and Asia.  Quite a feat for a Man.  They have a wonderful website    http://hegelercarus.org   The house is on the National Landmark Registry.

Dentist Appointment #2 DONE…….

First thing I want to mention is, if you look at the top, I have added other pages. I finally figured that out.  Wow, I’m actually figuring out how to design this page.   ALL BY MYSELF!!!…..Amazing…At the top you will see titles….Home…About…Family…Little Beaver… I have added Family and Little Beaver…If you click on Family, you will see a slide show of some of our favorite family pics…Little Beaver will be pics of the Motor Home, but haven’t added those yet. I also think I will add a page called ….Crafts…I enjoy mosaic crafts and some others. So I will be adding some pics of my past projects. So check these pages out and stay tuned for the rest…lol

Well this morning I ventured back to the dentist at 8 am….so early….but it was time for my impressions….lol..whew…Glad that is done…but wasn’t as bad as I thought. I remembered before, they put all that gobbledy gook in your mouth and you had to wait 15 minutes for it to harden. “Just breath out your nose” they say. In the mean time, your nose is running and down your throat it goes, lol…You can’t swallow for fear your choke. So you sit their stone quiet. I tell myself. “Relax, Calm, Breath slowly, through the nose, slowly, its almost over, relax, calm.”…..Over and Over and OVer. In the mean time this big ass tray filled with gobbledy gook is filling your mouth to overflowing, and they have your mouth and lips spread out so huge….It has to harden before they take it out….Finally at last its over…spread the mouth wider and pull it out after it has hardened and sucked on to the teeth…or the teeth that is left…lol.. When Rich had his done, They had so much Gobbledy Gook packed in the teeth tray in his mouth, He said it was ready to run down his throat. He wanted to gag….Yuck… Well guess what. They have now invented a new faster drying gobbledy gook….Really wasn’t so bad. Less than 5 minutes, it had set and out it came. She was fast efficient and very nice. Second visit…score…A+….so so far not to bad.  Have all my dates set in stone now till the …GRAND FINALE….

Last Monday was Labor Day, and what an AWESOME DAY “WHY” cause I had it  “OFF”  My first Labor day in years that I haven’t been working.  It felt so good.  I kept telling myself, this is what the future will be….NO MORE WORKING ON HOLIDAYS…  Rich and I went to Toluca for their Annual Labor day Parade.  I grew up in Toluca, and the Labor Day celebration was the ultimate for the year.  I was comparable to Christmas … The carnival came to town.  The greatest time ever.  The only thing I hated was,  we usually started school the Wed. before, and the teachers still gave us homework on Friday….WHY….This was the biggest weekend of the year…..  No time for homework!!!!…..  My oldest grandson Cameron has been ridding his 4 wheeler in the parade for several years.  Not to advertise for anybody, but just to ride.  lol…He lives about a half hour from Toluca… This year, now that he is 16, he has been making lots of friends out of town….including Toluca.  They are all MUDDING friends…lol….They all go to the river and get their vehicles stuck.   Crazy isn’t it.  He rode his 4 wheeler in the parade and 2 of his buddies rode their mud infested trucks….lol…Cameron even had 2 girls on the back of his 4 wheeler.  It was a nice parade.  Hardly any floats though.  Mostly , Marching Bands, police and firetrucks, tractors, old cars, and the Shriners….They always put on a good show.  Their were 2 awesome Semis, pulling grain trailers.   They were painted a beautiful PINK….It was in honor of Cancer.   Too pretty to use on the job…  The most unique vehicle was a tank.   A water tank.   It was at the end of the parade, and it was shooting water into the crowd.  It would swivel back and forth and shoot water way out.   The guys on each side had water hoses and shot at the crowd.   On a “HOT” day, what a way to end the parade.

It has been raining this morning, but now it is over.  Sun is starting to shine.   I have to get some laundry done.   The dryer broke over a month ago.  Why fix it, or buy another.   We’ll be leaving soon.   So time to go hang out on the line……Who doesn’t like cardboard feeling towels?…lol…At least nothing shrinks this way…..till next time…………..

My Date With the Dentist……….Hellllllllpppppp!!!!!!

I really hate dentists. I have always said I would rather have a baby than go to the dentist. Now that should tell you something about me.. Haha…CHICKEN SH—- I have a partial on the top and now I need a full set on the top. I am living on borrowed time, not only because several are bad and ready to cause trouble and of course, when I quit I will not have dental ins. So I only have an open window of 8-10 weeks. I have known this since last year. I prepared by having money put in my Flex account. I was going to start this in January. Well that’s where common sense ends. lol…..

When I was a Kid , I had the dentist from HELL…..I think he was in a relationship with the devil….OMG. I was so scared of him.. He caused me so much pain. I remember during my check up for Freshman year, he found 7 cavities….OMGGGGGG….Now back then It was just one cavity done a visit. So for 7 Fridays, I was to go after school and have them fixed. He was evil! What ever makes a person become a dentist. Why do you want to look in another persons mouth. Rotten Teeth, Bad Breath, Bleeding gums. I have never understood that. So my dentist would pretend to be friendly and then it all went to HELL….He put that sucker in you cheek to suck out all your saliva. Then he proceeded to drill. OUUUUCHHHH………..Hellllllllllpppp….He would hit that nerve. Then stop, have you sip some water. the sucker would suck it out, and then back came the drill….Over and Over Again….I would just hear that drill whine and whine and drill….Ohhhhhhh. The Pain of it all. So for 7 Fridays I went after school. By Monday I started worrying again. Now one of those Fridays, I made the decision not to go. I told my mom I forgot. Haha…I got caught in a lie…She knew better. So what was worse. Facing the Wrath of your Mother or the Evil Dentist. So that obviously made an impression on a 14 year old. It has stayed with me ALL of my life.

So through my whole adult life, I never went unless a tooth abscess , and I looked like I had a softball in my mouth. The pain that I endured…Silly Isn’t it. I remember once when Rich and I wasn’t married very long I was crying in the bedroom. He told me to go to the dentist. Noooooo….Suddenly the pain stopped…Wow, did I feel great. and then I felt my cheek grow. What an ugly sight. lol. So went in the next day and he lanced it. Went back several days later and he pulled it…It wasn’t that bad, but with time, the old feeling came back.

So the time came for the partial. It had to be done. I was eating a large Pretzel with Tina in the car. Well my front tooth broke off. She looked at me in shock and started laughing at me. All I needed was a chicklet. It would have filled up the hole.. I took some advise and went to a wonderful dentist. I was so scared, but all went GREAT. Well Now this time has come again. Ohhhhh No…..My dentist just left the area. I heard that the replacement was horrible. That’s all it took. Im not going back. So decisions had to be made. I was going to go to Aspen Dental. They are new by Walmart. My insurance plan covers them. And then I got the paper listing all the dentist on the plan. Would you believe they have 18 dentists. OMG, You’ll never know who you will get. and no offense, but at least 15 were foreigner’s. lol. I couldn’t pronounce their names. So, NOPE, not going their. Well we have a dentist that just built a new building. I stopped in last Friday. Their day was over, but they took me in for Xrays. I am now on the way to new teeth. lol..Impressions next Thursday already. But at the beginning of the visit, she asks me. “What kind of dentures do you want?” What? “What kind are their”…Well she came out with all these dentures. She tried to sell me on the ones that are put in permenately. They put titanium implants into you bone. OMG. The looked like large screws that went up your gum into you bone. They needed to put in 3 or 4. Well Guess the Price………….I’m not Rich….I only married a Rich…I’m actually poor……….$3000 an implant. that’s $9 to $12000 before you even get the dentures. Wow. So Of course I went with the traditional big ass plate in the mouth…Ill probably gag a lot till I get use to them…lol..but I will live with it. So that is going to be my near future. Grrrrrr ….but I keep telling my self…IT HAS TO BE Done. Next visit, Ill tell you about the COMFORT MENU….lol….

Tomorrow is Labor Day, The last official Holiday. Then all kids should be in school now. Rich and I are going to Toluca for their parade. It is only about 20 minutes away. I grew up their and graduated from Toluca High School. My oldest Grandson Cameron, is over their now. Him and his friends love to play with their 4 wheelers and vehicles in dirt and mud. So they are going to be in the parade as the mud boys I guess. I told him he should have washed it. He said Noooooooooooo, that’s the point. Its the MUD….So hope it doesn’t rain tomorrow, even though its predicted.

Good Morning Everyone….

Good Morning….Here it is Thur. morning. I have worked 2 days this week. I volunteered for today. WHAT?? They don’t need me???? Well guess I have one foot out the door and they other one is waiting to exit also. haha..Well that’s OK.  Part time check won’t be much. Or will their even be one. Lets see—-16 hours minus Insurance, Dental, 401k, Ill. tax, Fed tax, Medicare, Social Security, etc and etc….Mmmmmm….I bet I get an IOU….Not even enough for a tank of gas…..Well guess Rich better keep working. Hahaha…..My Social Security check better come fast….lol. Well now I have 5 days off before I go back. What to do …What to do…SO MUCH TO DO

I have added a few things to the right of the page.  I have added the blogs that I follow on a regular basis.   They are E-Mailed to me so I don’t miss them.  One of them is” WORKERS ON WHEELS“.  This is a site where you can go and see all the job postings in the US.  It is amazing.  This site posts jobs in their newsletter twice a week.    If you are interested or just curious to see what is out their, check it out.  This is one of the sites that we will be using to continue our Workamping after this winter.  Click on the site and click on the jobs.  Some are simply work for your site and some are money also.  An average posting is asking you for around 20 to 25 hours a week between the couple and you get your site, which includes water and sewer hookup.  Some give you an electric allowance.  We are getting $100 towards ours this winter.  Some also give you Wi Fi and Satellite.  I figure our job this winter will be worth around $500 a month.  All for just working  11 hours apiece a week.  I will most likely be cleaning the halls or laundry room and bathrooms.  Maybe even working in the office.  I have already asked if she could teach me the Campground Master program for checking in guests.   Rich will probably be doing maintenance.  This will also give you structure every week.  A purpose. Get out and meet all our other fellow campers.  Or should I say “SNOWBIRDS”.  Can you imagine Workamping in New Mexico up by Taos?  How about around the mountains of Gatlinburg  Tenn.  in the summer.  Then their is also the National Parks.  You can do this at the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone or Mount Rushmore.  Just dream on……Anything is possible.   Go south to Florida, Texas or Arizona for the winter and then head anywhere you want for the summer.

The other 3 bloggers are fun people.   Check them all out.   Two have been doing this for years.  One is a newspaper writer and puts out a quarterly newspaper, and also is an author.  He has written a number of books.  Nick just released another one.  Very inexpensive and all on Kindle.  He has been  RVing full time for over 15 years I believe.  Him and his wife Terry also offer seminars at Camping Rally’s.  The blog “Our RV Adventures”  is about Greg and Jan White.  They have also been doing this for over 10 years I think.  We met them last year down in the Texas oil fields.  They are getting ready now to do this again.  Gate Guarding the Oil Fields.   Great money for a short term.  By that I mean several months .   Not something to do permanently , but their are some people who do.  This is something that we also want to try.  You know , we have to try it all.   That’s what its all about….The Adventure of it….The 3rd blog is about Kelly and Micheal. They have only been out about 3 years now.  He is a retired servicemen.   Now contrary to what you may think, You don’t have to spend $250,000. to get a nice rig.   hahaah….We sure didn’t.   You will find with time , their are many people out their with Rvs made in the 70s and 80s.   It is what ever you can afford.  It doesn’t matter as long as your having fun.

Austins first day of Pre School Aug 2014#2

Mileys first day of Kindergarten Aug 2014

Austins first day of Pre School Aug 2014

I just had to add these pictures.   This is Miley on her first day in Kindergarten.  And their’s little Austin.  His first day in Preschool.  He did awesome.  So darn cute aren’t they.  Austin looks so tall, but Miley was down one step.  lol

I want to add, I am not completely happy with this format.  Their is something’s I want to do and can’t.  Well at least I can’t figure it out yet.   lol.  Their is so much to learn .   I am just clicking and messing around and seeing what happens.  Glad its not a bomb, I would have blown up.  For me its pretty technical….Ya know.  I’m an OLD FART now.   Or as a friend at work says…..Part time Peggy.   haha….So things may change with time.   I’m looking at different formats but haven’t found anything I like yet.  Till Next Time………………………

Wow….Off To A Good Start…….

I am so amazed and pleased by the response and viewing of my Blog since yesterday….I had 87 people view it and 6 followers already.  Now I know some of you know how to follow a blog but for those of you who don’t, on the side of the page is a place for you to put in your E-mail…Then you will get a notification every time I post a new blog….Also go to your E-mail and accept the first notification to complete the connection….Simple as that….

Flowers from Tina...Last Birthday at work

Her Card read….” Mom…Enjoy your last Birthday at Work….Love Tina, Ed Miley and Austin…..

Isn’t that so sweet of her….She never forgets…I don’t think that the office people will get to enjoy many flowers anymore after I’m gone….lol…..The flowers  always have to stay in the office….All you husbands and children need to send your wifes and moms flowers to work…..The office people need to enjoy other peoples flowers….They need Happy Office People not Crabby…….hahaha….And Thank you Tina Nodine, for carrying my flowers out to the car for me while I ate my popsicle…..She said I was TOO OLD to carry them….lol…She is such a nut….. Scott and Brandy had Rich and I out for supper last nite…That was nice and relaxing…

I do have another member of the family I haven’t mentioned yet….That would be my cat…..He came as a stray, to my front porch…..I had a dog at the time, Draven….He hated cats….Well, the cat didn’t leave the porch…Every day for 2 weeks I came home and he was still their, so finally we starting taking him in, and Draven and him became friends…..Well lets just say, they tolerated each other….

Also, you will also notice that their is a place to reply on the bottom…would be interested in any comments….lol…good or bad…..lol    Just give me the truth…..I can take it…lol….also ……What are your thoughts on the theme I choose…..Do you like the black background with white letters? or would you rather read black letters on a white background…..Interested in what everyone likes……Until later….

This is the Beginning….Retirement is near….

Well this is my first Blog. I have decided to start this blog, for the purpose of letting the kids know what we are doing after we take off in the RV. The RV?…..For those of you who don’t know, we are going full time RVing. Were heading to Southern Texas for the winter. No more Illinois snow for us. What a terrible winter it was. A week ago, I went to Social Security Office and filed for SSI. I will now be working part time for awhile, so I can still have Insurance. Rich will retire around the end of Oct. AND THEN THE FUN BEGINS…………LOL….

Im sure you all wonder how and when this decision was made. Rich has been wanting to do this for along time. I was the hold up. But as time went by, I realized how much work is involved in taking care of a house and yard. Think about it, How much of your check goes to taking care and supporting the house. We have always loved our spontaneous vacations. I do plan in sharing all these stories with all of you. We have so many. and Pictures also. About 2 years ago, I finally decided that this is what I wanted to do. So we went RV shopping. Really didn’t look long. We found our ‘”Little Beaver”. lol. not to far from us at a dealer. It is an older one but well kept. We made the plunge and bought her in Oct 2012. Everything the last 2 years, we have done to prepare for this Grand Time in life….RETIREMENT…AND TRAVELING….So I hope everyone will enjoy this blog and enjoy our adventures. We still have so much to do……So much STUFF in the house to get ride of….lol…Over 30 years of STUFFFFF…….OMG…..

Today is my Birthday, so Happy Birthday to ME .    I decided this would be a good day to start this diary.  I plan on only posting once a week at first.  Unless I have something exciting happen.   Like another trip to Goodwill.   LOL.
